shoot-day-1_1.jpg

It’s been a huge learning curve but everyone did an amazing job, especially since it was the first time for a lot of people. The performances by the actors were really strong. Make up and wardrobe are looking great. Both cast and crew worked together as a coherent team. We are really happy with footage. It was a fantastic start to the production phase of this project.

Production Planning #1
In the evening we held a production meeting with Makeup, Wardrobe, Props and the DOP to plan the next 3 shoot days. Cast and crew will be notified of the decisions made in relation to shoot days 2 and 3 shortly, specifically dealing with the travel arrangements.
These meetings are held for the specific purpose of reviewing and planning the shooting schedule.

Stay tuned, more BTS videos and a production photo library will be coming soon.

Pre-production is coming to an End

Monday, July 16th, 2007

What a week, we can see the end of the pre-production phase of this amateur film project. The majority of our time at present is making sure all those little important things that can end up lost are infact covered. The application for the Liability Insurance was faxed of today to H.W. Wood Australia Pty Ltd, thanks Tony for your patience and help. This is a major milestone since its the only thing the Grampians filming permit is waiting on.

Last night we double checked shoot days 1 through 6 and will have them updated with more indepth information by the end of this week. We also looked at some of the reccy footage Luke has shot with the Sony V1P while on holidays. The difference from standard video and HD is mind blowing, the footage is beautiful, can’t wait to get the Letus35 on the front of the camera and see how it manipulates depth-of-field.

This coming Saturday at Jenny’s house is the final wardrobe fitting and also some training for those who need to learn a few techniques for the camera. We also want to make sure all the participation agreements are signed off on this day. For those cast/crew who are investing in the production costs of the film, this is also the day to discuss options. Investment will be open to general public from Monday 23rd July.

Stonehouse Gallery

Today we headed down to Warrandyte in search for a Potter who we could commission to make the 5 Jars and possibly the stones. On our journey we came across the Stonehouse Gallery. The Gallery was established in 1972, on display are various works by local artists which can be purchased. After discussing our requirements and looking at the various works, we contacted one of the artists and have organised a meeting Sunday afternoon prior to our weekly production meeting.

Letus35 Flip Enhanced Delivered

Friday, July 6th, 2007

The lens adaptor has arrived. The shipping from the U.S. to Australia was only 10 days and this included the build of the unit. We are now ready to start shooting…… That gives us 22 days to play with the camera and the Letus as a unit prior to shoot day 01.

Its a Sony

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Well, we are now only 2 days away from the 3 week mark and we still have stacks of pre-production stuff to complete within that timeframe. For example we are still waiting on the Letus35 Flip Enhanced to be delivered. We do have the Sony V1P in our hot little hands, or I should say, Luke has the camera on the reccy to our only interstate location shooting some test shots and plates. For those involved here is a photo I took last weekend.

Minus 4 = 26 Days

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

No matter how we look at it, the 1st shooting day is just around the corner. This was evident last night when we broke the record with a 5 hour pre-production meeting that felt like it would never end.

What happens now;

a) Jennie Strempel goes to Sydney this week to attend a makeup course.
b) Luke and his family are going away for a few days, which also includes another reccy.
c) A final wardrobe fitting day has been scheduled at Jenny Wood’s house for Saturday 21st July from 3:00pm for all (Angel and Elindil not required). Note: All cast need to bring items that they are supplying, hoods need to bring boots, socks and a dark colour singlet or V neck T-shirt.
d) Training for several cast will also occur on the same day from 3:00pm onwards, same location.
e) We need everyone who needs to sign a participation agreement to do so by the 21st July.
f) Those who have indicated in the past or are intending to invest in the project should contact us to discuss arrangements etc.
g) Several outstanding pre-production tasks need to be completed, the list goes on.
