What a significant day today is, the camera has arrived, shipping from Singapore to Australia took only 2 days, WOW that’s fast. All we need now is the lens adaptor to turn up and we are ready to start shooting…… And thats only 30 days away from today. So to all involved, the clock is now counting down to shoot day 01.

Sony HVR-V1P Delivered
Thursday, June 28th, 2007Sony HVR-V1P & Letus35 Ordered
Tuesday, June 26th, 2007Monday afternoon the Sony HVR-V1P was purchased from Global Media Pro. It is a HDV camera that shoots 1080P and will be used for shooting Elindil’s Secret. It was shipped this morning, so we are expecting delivery of this camera within the next week.

We also purchased a Letus35 Flip Enhanced lens adapter direct from the US. Have you ever wondered why Hollywood movies that have 9 digit budgets look so much better than indie features that only have 5 digits to work with. Well, one thing a large budget buys you is depth-of-field. So what do you do if you don’t have that type of money lying around. You could wait for a RED camera or in our case, you can throw a still camera lens on the V1P using the Letus35 lens adapter. With a delivery timeframe between 15-25 days, we hope it arrives on time for the 1st shoot day.

We intentionally left it to today before we made these Agreements available for download so that everyone who attended the general meeting on Saturday had a 3 day cooling off period to think about what was presented.

General Meeting – Cast Read Through
Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

At the general meeting we outlined what has occured over the past 15 weeks. We then started to present the 3 agreements, with emphasis on the Participation Agreement. A synopsis of each agreement can be found in the June 8th post; Its all about Agreements.
Final agreements will be uploaded to a new Agreements page on Monday 25th June.
The second part of today was set aside for the cast to do a read through of the final version of the script.
Since today was a big day for everyone involved, this YouTube video contains some light humor that has absolutely nothing to do with the Film.
BTS Video update
Tuesday, June 19th, 2007The Location Survey Update 3 BTS video has had further edits to remove a specific reference and is now back up on the site.
Anyone who subscribes to the BTS videos via iTunes will need to unsubscribe and resubscribe, this is to fix an issue with the RSS feed that resulted in older videos not been available.
3D Fly By Test
This is a fly by test to test out some software we are looking at using for 3-D camera tracking, the video also contains 2 VUE 6 (CG) elements. If you think you can see them, then post a comment.
Location Survey Update 3
Friday, June 15th, 2007It never ends, Luke was once again out in the bush finding more locations for the movie. Filming in some of these locations is going to be a challenge.
Shooting Schedule Update
We are also considering a re-shuffle of shooting day locations, stay tuned.
Its all about Agreements
Friday, June 8th, 2007
Establishing agreements, should be the 1st thing that we did. Oh well, at least we are doing it before the general meeting. There will be 3 Agreements linked to the Film, they are;
Non Disclosure Agreement
Funding Agreement
Participation Agreement
Draft versions of the Agreements will be made available to several individuals to review.
Putting the pieces together
Thursday, June 7th, 2007
The script is finished, the call sheets are in-hand and 90% of the locations have been selected. The next several weeks is all about obtaining film permits, liability insurance, fleshing out those outstanding locations, cast training, drafting the funding and participation agreements, sourcing props, makeup, wardrobe, software, hardware, camera and keeping both this site and the wiki up to date. It sounds like it will never end, well the plan is to have everything in the final stages by pre-production week 16.
In order to facilitate this there is a Production Meeting scheduled for Sun 24th June, 7:00pm – 10:00pm.
The intention of this meeting is to go through the script from a pre-production perspective and ensure every detail is covered before we move into the production phase of the project. Attendance is by invitation only.
Building up to the start of shooting
Monday, June 4th, 2007
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.” – Ferris Bueller
It has been that type of week. The wardrobe is starting to look great and we are starting to upload images to the site for the cast and crew. We also re-casted Zoe Trudgeon this week, she will now play the role of Airianne (formely known as Lemond) and Luke Oliver will pickup Handras. This will add an extra challenge when shooting scenes with Handras! The gender change to the character Airianne is significant and helps with the unfolding of the clans storyline within the film. Before anyone asks, we said V1.9 of the script would be the final, well, there will be a new final, V2.0, I think that now makes 4 finals.
We would also like to welcome Susan Herbert into the team, she has accepted the position of Property Master and will be working closely with Mark Snell in sourcing all things props.
Important up and coming dates:
General Meeting:
Sat 23rd June, midday – 2:00pm, Luke’s house.
Cast script reading:
Sat 23rd June, 2:00pm – 5:00pm, Luke’s house.
Finally, what has the picture got to do with this post, hint: the period of time is defined by the edge of the centre stone.
