BTS Video update

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

The Location Survey Update 3 BTS video has had further edits to remove a specific reference and is now back up on the site.

Anyone who subscribes to the BTS videos via iTunes will need to unsubscribe and resubscribe, this is to fix an issue with the RSS feed that resulted in older videos not been available.

3D Fly By Test
This is a fly by test to test out some software we are looking at using for 3-D camera tracking, the video also contains 2 VUE 6 (CG) elements. If you think you can see them, then post a comment.

Location Survey Update 3

Friday, June 15th, 2007

It never ends, Luke was once again out in the bush finding more locations for the movie. Filming in some of these locations is going to be a challenge.

Shooting Schedule Update
We are also considering a re-shuffle of shooting day locations, stay tuned.

Shake 4 – Match Move Test: Solution

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

shake4_0

The “Shake 4 Match Move Test” was accomplished by creating 3 static shots….Left, Centre and Right….matched together to create one shot and then the camera movement is added later…but it’s the camera movement that makes it feel like one shot.

This is how we are going to shoot the water fall shots, even if they are at different locations, it also means that we can shoot on location….mpeg encoded….and add camera movement later.

Location Survey Update 2

Friday, June 1st, 2007

Another day out walking kilometers upon kilometers to find more locations for the movie. Looking at the various locations with the plan of what is going to be done with these locations is really exciting.

We would also like to thank Mark Urquhart from Parks Victoria who has provided valuable background assistance with various locations.

Wardrobe Measure Up

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

wardrobe_1

It’s all starting to come together
Quite a few of us got together today to get measured up for costumes. This was an informal process that allowed everyone to mingle and chat amongst themselves while Jenny Wood measured everyone up. Once the measure up was finished and everyone had left, Jenny, Luke and I (David) had a chance to discuss wardrobe in more detail, this resulted in some significant tweaks to several costumes.

A message to the Wood family
Luke and I would firstly like to thank Jenny’s family for allowing her to take on such an important role. To Jenny, the experience and skill you bring to this project is invaluable. The words “Thank You” somehow seem inadequate when I think about the amount of time and effort you have put in so far.

For those of you that would like to inflict pain on yourself….try and work out how this was done. Let me add….there is no blue screen or masking (roto) involved in this shot. Just Shake 4.

Login and post a comment if you think you know how it was done, we will reveal the answer in 7 days.

Shooting Schedule

victoria_sat_image

Whats the satellite image of Victoria got to do with this post…. well…. 99% of the film will be made in Victoria.

After three and half hours of sitting around two Macbooks we have achieved what we would consider a milestone. The production calendar now contains shoot days…. end July through mid November. That gives us just on 10 weeks until we start shooting the film. In the mean time, pre-production work will continue to increase for the crew, we will be contacting those who have shown an interest in this area of the film shortly.

Final script…. Or is it
A note for the cast, that final script that was recently sent out…. well…. it’s not that final…. a new final will be sent out shortly…. Don’t worry, the changes are only minor.

Savvy?…. At Worlds End reminder
There is a decent sized group going to the movies on the 24th, any cast or crew who would like to come need to email us by Tuesday 15th May. It looks like the session time is 9:00pm.

2nd Auditions

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

Audition 2aAudition 2bAudition 2c

Today we held the 2nd round of auditions, this round was to make a final decision on 4 more roles. Each actor has been given the role they auditioned for. We outlined to them how they should build the characters including accents and movements.

The remaining roles in the film are all minor, we will approch individuals over time and ask them if they are happy to fullfill these roles.

Location Survey Update

Monday, April 30th, 2007

We have had chance to review the video footage from the Reccy trip several weeks ago, this footage was valuable when it came to working out locations. Here is a quick look at some of the places that we will be shooting. Hopefully it won’t spoil how we are going to put some of the scenes together. It probably looks a bit scary, but it’s actually on the tip of the iceberg considering there are 53 locations for this film.
